Formerly known as Buju, Ruger and BNXN put an end to their discord in the early months of 2024. Their collaboration began with the release of a single titled “Romeo Must Die,” followed by a joint EP named “RnB,” comprising seven tracks, which hit the shelves on April 18, 2024. In an exclusive interview with Billboard's Tetris Kelly, the duo delved into the process of patching up their relationship.
They candidly discussed the journey of reconciliation, shedding light on the creative process behind their latest collaborative endeavor, “RnB.” Additionally, they shared the inspirations that fueled the project, touched upon their connection with Afrobeats luminary Burna Boy, and analyzed the burgeoning global appeal of the Afrobeats genre.
Reflecting on the pivotal moment of reaching out to one another, BNXN reminisced, “I vividly recall sitting aboard the plane. My team had arranged a flight to London. As I waited for takeoff, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and there he was—Ruger. In that instant, it was a choice between confrontation or reconciliation.”
