Blackface Alleges Song Theft by Shallipopi for ‘Shakespopi’ Album

Veteran Nigerian musician Blackface, also known as Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, has leveled accusations against his contemporary Shallipopi, claiming that Shallipopi stole one of his songs for the newly released album ‘Shakespopi.’

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, April 14, 2024, Blackface expressed his disappointment, asserting that Shallipopi had become yet another artist to allegedly appropriate his work. This accusation adds Shallipopi to the roster of artists Blackface has previously accused, including 2Baba, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Asake.

In his Instagram post, Blackface lamented the pattern of emerging artists purportedly incorporating his sound or melody into their own creations. He stated, “Are you implying that without copying my sound or melody, you’d have no songs to sing? Alright, I’ve remixed it for you, so you better abandon this project of yours!”

This incident underscores Blackface’s ongoing struggle against what he perceives as plagiarism within the music industry, emphasizing his resolve to safeguard his artistic contributions.
